A Lesson from My Executive Memo (That Every Pickleball Player Needs to Hear) |
Hey, I recently wrote a memo to our executive team, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it applies to every pickleball player out there—including you. Pickleball isn’t just a game; it’s a lesson in teamwork, trust, and resilience. Whether on the court or in business, success comes down to how we support each other, adapt, and keep playing—even after a missed shot. I wanted to share this memo with you today because I think it’s a perspective we can all benefit from. Check it out below... Ohhhhhhh, and don't forget to check out our latest training "How to build a rocksolid backhand" :-). |
Let's Get Personal |
I recently wrote this memo to our executive team, but I realized it’s something worth sharing with all of you—our pickleball community. One of the best things about pickleball is that it’s a team game—especially in doubles. You have to trust your partner. You’ve got to believe they can take the risky shot when it matters most. You have to move together, side by side, to the kitchen line—because that’s how you take control of the game. Getting frustrated when they miss a shot won’t win you points. But resetting, encouraging, and reminding them that it’s just a ball? That’s how you keep the momentum going. Great teams know each other's weaknesses and cover for them. They lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. It’s the same in business and in life. When one of us wins, we all win. Every player matters. Every shot matters. And here’s the best part—yes, we’ll make mistakes. We’ll hit the ball into the net. We’ll blow easy shots. But that’s how we learn, adjust, and come back stronger. And the second piece of good news? There’s always another game. 😊 Now, let’s go play to win. See you on the courts, Armando Alejandro |
Third Shot Drop Challenge |
A great warmup tip for doubles in pickleball is the "Third Shot Drop Challenge." Before your game, pair up with your partner and practice hitting third shot drops from the baseline while your opponents stay at the kitchen line. Focus on controlled, soft shots that land just over the net. This drill not only warms up your soft game but also improves touch, placement, and teamwork—crucial for setting up points in doubles. You can make it fun by seeing how many successful drops you can hit in a row without your opponents volleying them back aggressively. This way, you’re getting dialed in before the match even starts!
