Move Like You Mean It (Or Keep Chasing Balls Like a Newbie)

What’s inside today’s drop?

You’ll discover how a Major League Pickleball star trains his feet (spoiler: it’s not on the court), the #1 fix for bangers who hit like Thor but miss like SpongeBob, and the easiest at-home drill to level up your lateral quickness — all in under 5 minutes.

Let’s roll 👇

👟 Why Tyler Morgan says your feet matter more than your paddle — and how to train them at home.

Let me shoot you straight…

Most pickleball players lose points not because of bad hands, but because their feet are stuck in molasses.

Yep. You could have hands like a ninja monk, but if your footwork sucks? You’ll still be lunging, stretching, and flailing like you’re auditioning for a blooper reel.

Let’s fix that.

💥 Why Footwork = Secret Sauce

Footwork isn’t about being fast. It’s about being ready.

Great players don’t react. They flow. They’re balanced. On their toes. Already halfway to the next ball before you’ve even blinked.

That’s why Tyler Morgan — one of the top dogs in MLP — says:

“You can have the best hands in the game, but if your feet aren’t where they need to be, it won’t matter.”

Translation: Feet first. Fancy shots second.

🔧 3 Quick-N-Dirty Footwork Fixes

  1. Stay on the balls of your feet
Heels planted = slow and stuck. Balls of feet = light and lethal.

  2. Keep those knees bent
It’s not a squat contest — but a slight bend keeps you spring-loaded and smooth.

  3. No foot crossing nonsense
Shuffle like you’re guarding LeBron. Don’t cross your feet unless you like falling over.

🏡 Home Hack: The Cone Shuffle Drill

No court? No problem.

Grab 3 cones (or water bottles, or half-eaten protein bars, whatever).
Line ‘em up 3 feet apart.

Start in the middle. Shuffle to one side, touch the cone, shuffle back, then hit the other side. 30 seconds, paddle in hand.

Repeat until your legs scream uncle. Then do it again.

Bottom line?

Fancy paddles don’t make you great. Fancy footwork does.
So get moving. Glide. Shuffle. Float like a butterfly, dink like a savage.

And hey — if you’re still stuck flat-footed by next week?

Don’t say I didn’t warn ya. 😉

Rooting for ya,

💥 Tip: Hit Through the Ball — Not At It

Most bangers are guilty of this:

They crush the ball at their target like it owes them money… but the ball dies or sails out.

Instead, swing through the ball, like you’re sending it on a mission past your target. Think smooth extension — not just brute force.

Here’s how to dial it in:

  • Keep your follow-through high and forward, especially on drives.

  • Don’t snap your wrist early — let the paddle face guide the ball before adding spin.

  • Pretend you’re trying to hit a second invisible ball just past the one in front of you. 🎯

This alone can add more consistency, depth, and pace to your shots — without overcooking it.
